THIS IS A FOLLOW UP to the discussion we had at the April 7th Rules Meeting regarding whisker poles:

From the Race Committe Chair:

The rules are pretty clear on what one can do with a whisker pole. The whisker pole cannot extend more than the J value while racing. The J value is defined as the distance between the leading edge of the mast to the forestay. Remember, the distance is measured perpendicular to the mast. Most masts come out of the deck above the perpendicular distance between the mast
and the forestay. This makes it very hard to get an accurate measurement from the boat. The best way to find out the distance is to go to one of the online boat databases. The value must be marked on the whisker pole as a
band with a color that contrasts with the pole. Red or yellow tape or paint are usually good colors. This way you know how far to extend the pole and your competition knows. If you don't take the time to mark the pole, don't use it. If there is no mark on the pole and you are using it, you will be scored DSQ. If you are caught extending the pole past the mark, you will be scored DSQ. You will have the opportunity to defend yourself at a protest hearing, but I cannot really think of a good excuse for breaking this rule while racing.

It is ok if you put a block, eye, etc. on the end of your boom to pole out a sail even if your boom is larger than the J value. I don't see an issue with one headsail attached to the boom and the other attached toa spinnaker/ whisker pole.
